WordPress SEO – The Definitive Guide

Posted by on Apr 4, 2011 in HTML/CSS | No Comments

With so much talk about SEO out there, sometimes it’s good to get information from the source. I use WordPress and I also use Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin. There are others, yes. I use Yoast because it has everything I need for SEO purposes. The plugin takes care of  the following:

  1. Post titles and meta descriptions
  2. Robots Meta configuration
  3. Canonical
  4. Breadcrumbs
  5. Permalink clean up
  6. XML Sitemaps
  7. RSS enhancements
  8. Edit your robots.txt and .htaccess
  9. Clean up head section

If you need a fantastic reference guide when using WordPress, this guide will be all you need. It indeed is the definitive guide to SEO using WordPress. Topics include basic technical optimization along with advanced optimizations using templates. I particularly liked the topic on optimizing your titles using keywords. I learned much from it and believe you will also. In addition, the section on optimizing your descriptions was very informative and helped me improve my site descriptions with the advice. Finally, the guide also covers everything from image optimization, discussion on the benefits of pages versus posts and comment optimization all which are important to search engine rankings.

Although I previously wrote an article on SEO secrets, the guide I’m referring you to has information within that is the same information the author gave at A4UExpo London Conference. As such it is a informative guide with information you can use today in your WordPress site.

In closing, I believe with the SEO plugin together with the guide, both from Yoast, you’ll be on your way to increasing your search rankings. Take your time and do it right and watch your site soar.
